5Amazing! Better than Bootcamp  Aug 17, 2008
Let me start out by saying that I tried to install Windows on my Mac a few months ago, with Bootcamp. Well, Bootcamp ended up erasing my entire hard drive--I lost everything. Wouldn't you know that my back-up hard drive I had purchased didn't arrive at my door until the day after this...

I was hesitant to try this again, but Fusion came highly recommended by Apple Geniuses and I really needed Windows for one program for work on my Macbook.

After an easy, breezy set-up, I now have Windows, and my hard drive is still intact! Fusion is really amazing. No restarting the computer to put into Windows mode; it goes into stand-by when not in use. Files are easily found and used on both OS. I can even watch my Netflix now.

I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a program other than Bootcamp. Thank you Fusion!

4Good Product  Aug 07, 2008
I really hate to admit that I need to run Microsoft Windows on my Mac, but I have some lab software that can only run on Windows. VM Fusion has provided a much more stable environment especially in Unity mode than other options(except for Apple Boot Camp, but who wants to dual boot). I definitely recommend this product

5Great way (and instructions) on how to "clone" your windows to your mac  Jul 31, 2008
I bought the VMWare fusion and I thought I had to buy not only a new windows xp/vista, plus all the additional programs to make the change. Well it happens that after reading some reviews and some research on my side it is somewhat easier to transfer your WHOLE pc to your mac, WITHOUT having to buy the windows xp copy, nor the windows office...

1. Go to VWMare and download the vmware converter
2. Install the converter in your computer PC and create a clone. This might sound difficult, but the VMware website has a self explanatory video that tells you how to do step by step. Basically it is the equivalent of creating a "zip" or a "backup" of your existing pc in the "vmware format". Again the website has a video with step by step instructions.
3. Once you have saved your PC, you log into the mac.
4. You install the VW Fusion.
5. You "import" your saved old PC - that is the vmware format.. and bingo... you suddenly your old pc (and ALL the programs it had) runs faster and better in the mac.
6. You are set!!!

It is a great program indeed...

After all is setup, don't get frustrated because you suddenly think you must open the WHOLE windows XP. There is a way to create an icon for the applications you want to use from your PC in the MAC, very smoothly.. it is called UNITY. There is another video that tells you how to do it, is pretty self-explanatory. Basically when your press UNITY icon and run let's say your Outlook, the Outlook Icon pops in your mac Dock.. in that moment press with your mouse and select Show in Finder. Is that easy!

5Flexible, Stable, and Seamless - just like VMWare's Professional Products  Jul 29, 2008
I've been using Fusion for about two months now and I've run in through several different tests with several different operating systems. On my Macbook Pro I've got Windows XP Pro, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2008 Enterprise running - all have been excellent in terms of performance and stability. Windows XP works great and with Fusion you have the ability to seamlessly use USB, Sound, and other ports on the Mac as if they were native PC devices. When full-screened you'd never know you were working on a MAC, if it weren't for the bloody single-button mouse. Since I owned a PC when I bought my Nano, I have iTunes synched with my Windows XP version (for now) and a wireless USB mouse with two buttons and a wheel! I've run full HD video from Windows XP without noticeable difference (the native MAC quicktime does look sexier though ;)) and best of all the framerate remains intact. I haven't tried running any games yet but then I don't have any for the PC. Windows Vista is having problems recognizing the USB device but I can't recall if I installed VMWare tools yet so don't quote me on that issue. Windows Server 2008 runs great - no issues there either. I've got some .NET apps running on that OS that run the disk quite a bit but no issues seen yet! Definitely worth the purchase, especially if you float among operating systems or just try something different.

5VMWare Fusion  Jul 28, 2008
I purchased this version of VMWare Fusion and as soon I installed it there was an update available. Installing XP was easy. I look forward to installing other OS's. I was surpised at how well XP runs in the virtual environment. I had a preconceived misconception that the virtualization software was buggy and slow, I was surpised at how FAST XP runs on my Mac with this software. I now switch between my Mac applications and Photoshop on Windows XP. Redirecting USB devices to the operating system is also very simple and easy. I found that my Mac detected the devices while I had to download drivers for XP in order to use a multi card reader. Overall great product, I still have some things to figure out but overall it is very easy to use and more stable than I expected. One thing I must mention, make sure to give permisssions to read and write to the Mac folders (when setting up), otherwise you cannot move files from your virtual OS into the Mac folders from My Computer, and I'm not sure if there is a setting to turn this back on. The work around for me is to save to flash drive and copy back to the Mac.
