2Too confusing!  Jun 18, 2008
I love fishing and so does my dad...we thought it would be easy with the Wii but this game is horrible! We also figured with Rapala being a big brand in fishing they could create a good game...NOPE! For 10 minutes you spend TRYING to fish you catch nothing and spend 10 more minutes and its just horrible!

4Great overall game  Apr 12, 2008
I got this as a Christmas Gift. Anyhow, I love the fact fish are NOT everywhere. And, that the little fish picture box only flashes red when a fish is interested in the lure you choose (so, choosing a wrong lure will not attract fish). It has kept myself and my daughter engaged for a looooong time. The only way I would improve it is that it were not only Lure fishing (not only Rapala brand either), and have multiplayer options.

3A Good Start  Jan 31, 2008
I've read many of the reviews on this game and share many of the same opinions in terms of lack of instruction, subpar sound and difficulty in the controls. But, all of that aside, I still find this game to be a lot of fun, especially when playing with other people.

I am a fisherman and so the lack of instruction was not a problem for me. But, you are given an extraordinary amount of lures and never really told which ones are meant to catch which fish. There is no explanation on drag and when to increase/decrease it. But, being a fisherman, I did prefer no instruction to the mandatory "tutorial" mode I'm finding WII developers love to toss at the beginning of a game(think "Tiger Wood Golf"). I hate being forced to pass a tutorial, especially when it's something I already understand. The actual game play is pretty darn realistic, in terms of casting, reeling in, and "jigging" your line. But, the fish are WAY TOO easy to catch and WAY TOO plentiful. There was a point when I had the difficulty setting on the hardest level and still caught 14 fish on 14 straight casts. Taht just never happens, I don't care how good you claim to be at fishing. That was my biggest complaint with the game.

All in all, I would purchase this game for the price and probably will, as it's a blast to play with other people. I think this is a good "building-block" for the WII fishing realm and will be drastically improved upon in future releases.

ENJOY!

1Horrible  Jan 25, 2008
Don't waste your time with this game, it is horrible. The graphics for some aspects of game play are great, but others are extremely poor. For example, the character that is in the boat likes fairly realistic. The fish on the other hand look horrible. They look like big stupid grey blobs. There are also in game glitches that drive me crazy, for example, the fish can swim through the bottom of the boat. The best part of this game is the fact that Activision's help section of their website lists this game for the 360, but not the Wii. There are are also pointless button combinations that you need to push to net your grey blob fish. I'm waiting for Sega's new fishing game, because Sega rarely disappoints.
